Understanding your system

The Dux Proflo range is built for robust reliability, boasting dense polymer insulation layers and clean installation options for both indoor cupboards and outdoor pads.

Vitreous Enamel storage

Uses a commercial-grade enamel coating combined with a larger sacrificial anode to actively fight aggressive water minerals.

Mains pressure delivery

Designed to maximize flow rates so you experience exceptional pressure across all hot water fixtures.

Routine servicing and system care

To prolong the lifespan of your cylinder and keep it running smoothly, follow this simple maintenance schedule.

Every 6 months - Homeowner Check

Ease the TPR valve

Gently pull the lever on your top Temperature & Pressure Relief (TPR) valve for a few seconds to flush away small mineral clusters. Release carefully to let it close drip-free.

Clear around the casing

If your Proflo is installed outdoors, ensure no garden soil, leaves, or mulch pile up against the bottom electrical cover panel.

After 12 months - Professional Service

After the first 12 months, this initial service is vital as it determines the level of ongoing maintenance needed specific to your location and environment. To keep your system running optimally for its full lifespan, book this annual check-up with Hot Water Shop. Our technician will test your thermostat limits, flush all relief valves, and directly inspect the condition of your sacrificial anode to prevent premature internal corrosion.

Quick Fixes

Before calling for service, double-check these simple fixes:

No hot water at all

Check your home switchboard panel to confirm the hot water fuse breaker switch is turned fully on.

Constant dripping

A small discharge during active heating is normal, but if the expansion drain line streams hot water constantly all day long, the valve mechanism likely needs clearing or a fast professional swap.

Tim’s Efficiency Tips

The 60°C sweet spot

By law in NZ, stored hot water must be kept at a minimum of 60°C to prevent legionella bacteria. Your cylinder's internal thermostat is calibrated to balance maximum health safety with efficient power usage.

Shower heads

Because the Proflo pushes excellent mains pressure, pairing it with a high-quality modern water-efficient shower head lets you enjoy a fantastic shower experience while reducing the overall amount of hot water you drain from the tank each morning.
